Day Two: Sunday

Eva woke up with a head full of feelings and images. The heated kiss with Dan in the office. The deceptive allure of Wharton’s flirtatious eyes. Joanne’s keen eyes observing her awkwardness around their newest client. And finally, the revelation of Dan and Alice Perry. Waking up went from warm, fuzzy, sweetness to guilty pleasures to wide-eyed outrage in ten seconds flat. Eva stared up at the ceiling, then sat up to begin the mission of unloading her upset on Dan. But she remembered. Dan had slept on the sofa after she had ignored him, drunk wine, and read up on the signed first editions by George Bernard Shaw. It was tedious work – especially the ignoring Dan part. But it had to be done. Only the white wine made it any more bearable. She had left Dan with one final reassuring kiss – a peck on his head, before walking away alone to bed. But no matter how much Dan had begged for clemency, she still owed him a little more punishment. In the background, the warm fuzzy feelings of before lingered in wait. It would have been nice to have a bed companion for a while, but Dan needed to learn his lesson. Eva blinked, opened the bedside drawer to hunt for the paracetamol, found the packet empty, then rolled up out of bed with a groan.
